Agriculture

Chhattisgarh is called the rice bowl of India. So, is the Pando also. The main agricultural product they produce is rice. This rice agriculture depends on the rain. They plough the field before and after the rainfall. So, when the field fills with water, they will be ready for agricultural work. At first, they grow the young seedlings. And then take that seedling to another field. And women and men together work to plant the seedling to the field. And after 3-4 months, they do harvest.

Pando people also plant other vegetables according to the availability of water. During the winter season, they plant various vegetables like potatoes, peas, and other vegetables.

Earlier, in many villages, they used to use ox and human labour for agriculture. But nowadays people use a tractor, and many other machines for ploughing, harvest and all.

The Pando people are also engaged in livestock farming. Most raise goats, while some farm cows and pigs. Livestock serves as an important and continuous source of income, as agricultural activities are seasonal, whereas animal farming provides earnings throughout the year.
